Privacy Policy — Nidus

This Privacy Policy describes how Nidus ("we", "us", "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use Nidus.

Data we collect

  • Account data: email address, full name (optional).
  • Receipt data: photos of receipts you scan, and the line items, prices, store names, and dates extracted from them.
  • Spending data: aggregated transaction and budget data derived from your receipts.
  • Recipe data: recipes you save or import, meal plans, and shopping lists.
  • Food preferences: ingredients or categories you choose to exclude for recipe suggestions.
  • Household data: the household you belong to and other members' names/emails, if you create or join a household.
  • Diagnostic data: crash reports and error logs (only if you opt in via Settings → Privacy → Error reporting).

How we use your data

  • To provide the core features of the app: scanning and organising receipts, tracking household spending, and planning meals/recipes.
  • To generate recipe suggestions and variants tailored to your stated food preferences.
  • To diagnose and fix crashes, if you have opted in to error reporting.

Third-party processors

We use the following third-party services to operate Nidus. Each processes a subset of the data above on our behalf:

Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data — including receipts, recipes, meal plans, and household membership — is permanently deleted.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data (most fields are editable directly in the app).
  • Delete your account and associated data (via Settings → Danger zone).
  • Export your data in a portable format, on request.

Children's privacy

Nidus is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the app or by email.
